If you have ever dealt with the pain of arthritis you know that joint pain is bad. What most people are not aware of is that what you eat can help to diminish the pain you are feeling. A recent study by Joseph Maroon, MD showed that grapes contain resveratrol. Resveratrol has been known to be effective in preventing heart disease but recently it has been discovered that it may also be effective in helping with symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It’s not clear how many grapes you would need to eat to make them effective in fighting arthritis pain but they do help.
In addition to grapes there are some other foods that your joints can benefit from. These include:
Strawberries– they are packed with vitamin C. Vitamin C can stymie the progression of osteoarthritis. You can also add other types of fruits to this category including oranges, and peaches.
Olive Oil– Polyphenols in olive oil may help reduce inflammation in the body.
Salmon– this fish is loaded with two joint soothing nutrients Vitamin D and omega 3 fatty acids. If you are deficient in vitamin D boasting your intake can actually help with arthritis pain. Omega 3 had always been a good supplement for its anti-inflammatory qualities.
Green Tea– this is known for antioxidants called catechins. Catechins may contain properties that can delay cartilage damage.
Leafy Greens– these contain vitamin K which is a nutrient that helps to prevent osteoarthritis.
