Understanding Hispanic Health Disparities
In one of our top blogs this year, we focus on the health differences in the Hispanic community. Despite having lower rates of heart disease and cancer, studies show a higher risk for diabetes and kidney disease among Hispanics. The blog explains that while fewer Hispanics die from cancer and heart disease, about 50 percent are more likely to get diabetes, and their risk of dying from it is 50 percent higher. The post points out that limited access to healthcare, due to issues like working hours and transportation, contributes to these health disparities. It stresses that things can get better with more access to healthcare. Pasadena Health Center is here to help, providing our community with the healthcare access they need. This blog is a key resource, urging individuals to consider Pasadena Health Center for their health needs. Schedule a visit with us today to prioritize your health.
Prenatal Care 101
Another topic we wanted to highlight this year was prenatal care. The post highlights the importance of starting prenatal care early, comparing it to a roadmap for a healthy pregnancy. It explains that this care involves regular check-ups for both the mother and baby and encourages starting in the first trimester, ideally around 8 to 10 weeks into the pregnancy. Early prenatal care offers benefits like spotting and managing health issues early and promoting optimal baby growth. The blog outlines what happens during the first prenatal visit and stresses the support PHC provides throughout this journey. It ends with a clear message: don’t wait to reach out to PHC as soon as you suspect you’re pregnant. The friendly team is ready to guide you through scheduling your first prenatal care appointment, emphasizing that your health and your baby’s well-being are top priorities.
