Over the last few months, Omicron has become the dominant strain of COVID. Does this mean that the pandemic is ending like we had hoped in the beginning, or are we in this for a while longer? Let’s look more into the latest news on Omicron in the following blog post.
Omicron has calmed down over the last few weeks, but it is still a presence in the United States. Because the population is only partly vaccinated, it is likely we will reach an “endemic” state with COVID instead of the disease going away permanently. For now, the best thing we can do is stay vaccinated, wash our hands, and practice social distancing.

Omicron Presence
The presence of Omicron made the cases of COVID in the US spike dramatically over the last few weeks. It looks as though that spike is going down more recently, which is a good thing.
Experts are saying Omicron shows potential for stabilization. In the best-case scenario, Omicron could provide a way for us to return to normal. Worst case scenario, recovery from COVID may take a longer time than any of us want.
Super Immunity
The good news is that due to Omicron, many people have what scientists are calling “super immunity” This means that if you have both the vaccine and the antibodies generated by contracting the Omicron variant, you are protected against all of the variants currently in circulation.
Ideally, this would allow COVID to die out. More likely though, this will allow us to enter an “endemic” stage. This would mean COVID would become like the flu in our country. It’s likely that every year we would come out with new vaccines for the current strain.
What the Future Holds
We don’t really know what the future holds, but we are hopeful that with time, our country will be able to regain some semblance of normal. The main variable we have to consider is the other variants that will develop. From there, we will see what the future holds.
Get Vaccinated
For the future, the best thing we can do is get vaccinated, wash our hands, social distance. Omicron can help end the pandemic, but it could also make the pandemic last longer.
