1) Don’t Focus on COVID News/Limit Your News Intake
With such big advancements in technology, it is so easy to get caught up in doom scrolling about the state of the world. If you find yourself obsessing over the latest COVID news, be sure to set limits on how much news you consume. While it is important to stay informed, your mental health has to come before knowing the most recent COVID strain.
2) Have a Daily Routine
An important part of maintaining your mental health is having a daily routine. Without a routine, it is difficult to have some normalcy in your daily life. Some of the best ways to do that are to establish a wake-up routine that starts the same way every day such as brushing your teeth or having coffee when you wake up.
3) Physically Take Care of Yourself
Another way to boost your mental health is to incorporate some sort of physical activity into your routine. Going for a walk every day is proven to be great for your mental health. It doesn’t have to be a long walk, but setting aside ten minutes to walk will help stabilize your mood and your hormones. Other ways to take care of yourself would be to take a shower or a bath, eat regularly, sleep well and drink plenty of water.
4) Talk to Your Loved Ones
Another way to maintain your mental health is to talk to your loved ones regularly. We are social creatures, so when we talk to others it improves our mental health. Regularly talking to your loved ones also improves your relationships.
5) Do Things You Love
One of the best ways to boost your mental health is to do the things you love. If you have a hobby that you love like sewing, playing a game, or watching a show, be sure to set time aside to do that hobby. Doing things you love is very good for your mental health.
6) Visit a Counselor
If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, or some other mental health issue, be sure to reach out to a mental health professional. They are trained to help improve your mental health. Pasadena Health Center offers counseling services, so if you need some help, we would be happy to serve you.
